On vacation one summer, my family and I stopped at the park on Southport waterfront. We were enjoying the day, eating ice cream, when a summer storm blew up the coast from the south and the fishing boats started to come in. That is what gave me the idea for this painting. The shrimp boat was the Molly Ray. I changed the name on my original to the Sarah Rose, after my two daughters.
