Cape Lookout Reflection

A friend of mine invited my son and I to join him and his son on an overnight sailing trip to Cape Lookout. I got to experience the ocean and its sounds from a new point of view. The experience of sailing for the first time was quite wonderful. After spending a day on the water, we anchored on the sound side of the lighthouse. After spending a very good night sleeping aboard the boat, I woke to the sight of the lighthouse’s reflection in the calm waters of the sound. The light of the early morning sun was starting to break through the clouds. I broke out my sketch book and made a drawing of the scene. Upon my return home I set out to try to recreate the beauty that greeted me that wonderful morning.
